Weekendgreetings

Once again only an entry at the weekend but I have a lot of photos for you...

At Kirstens summeroffer I couldn't resist, so the Caribbean moved in. Together with Arne I choosed appropriate names for the skeins, the main inspiration came from him. Please let me introduce:

From left to right: Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao

and so they will fly with me in to weeks into vacation:

For my big pleasure today another treasure arrived from America. The custom let it pass without problems (I think in September this would have been different because the exchange rate changed)

Furthermore after some consideration I tried a few days ago the Hamburger Wollfabrik:

This is a merino quality

The yarn in the middle and on the right is already planned, for shawls where I bought the pattern here And as i finished two projects this weekend...

'Sommerkuß' for me
'Waving Lace' from 'Favourite Socks'
Summermixture from Drachenwolle

This yarn is a dream. Easy to knit and sooooooo soft.

Hilaza
From the book 'Lavish Lace'
'Uru' Lace-Yarn

...I started the project 'Scheherazade' from the yarn from the Hamburger Wollfabrik:

The yarn is so beautiful and very lightly. I only hope, I didn't calculate wrong and ordered enough (and yes, theoretical there should be more than enough). The cone looks so small... there should be much more than 1000m on it.

In progress is still the little seaman:

And the new sock project is 'Serengeti'

Pattern is here again Waving Lace. It's so easy to knit and good countable.

I wish you all a wonderful Sunday!

Orient...

On Sunday evening I would like to show you, how Scheherazade has been grown this weekend.

It is a very beautiful project, the yarn is sooooooo soft, but it is also very complex. It is more a picture, not a repeating pattern sentence, it is neccesary to watch the instruction carefully and to count often. It is more a project for the weekend and the afternoon, not for knitting in the evening while watching TV.

I wish you a good start into the new week!

Sunday Greetings

Another week has been gone, vacation comes closer. And of course this week I have some things to show.

I crocheted. In our canteen in the company we have in the morning (where I get my breakfast on some days) a real dreamteam. Mrs. B. and Mrs. L. work wonderful together, everytime so friendly and jolly, very kind people. But in the last days Mrs. B. felt not so good so I made my very first little teddybear for her:

He might be not perfect but he looks sweet and she was very happy.

On Friday I went to Hamburg once again. This time, I had some time on my own in the city so I visited the Shop of the 'Hamburger Wollfabrik' for the first time. It was real nice and I bought a cone of a cashmere-merino-silk-Mixture and a ball of brown sock yarn.

The orange ball on the fotos was given to me from my friend Heike. She is knitting shawls at the moment with a lot of fun and she has not the time to try to knit socks.

We had a nice stay in the restaurant, which passed to fast, like allways.

On the train ride I finished the first Serengeti-Sock.

The whole week I continued knitting 'Scheherazade'. At the moment I'm in the middler of pattern 4 (there are 6 plus the top, everything knitted twice).

I also will start with 'Aruba'. Together with it's caribbean sisters and Scheherazade it will travel with me in my suitcase. At the moment I'm searching for a suitable pattern.

Have a good week!

Vacaaaaaaation

Today it's time to say Good-bye for some time. This night we will fly to Lanzarote.

On board I can do cross stitching, in the suitcase are three balls sock yarn and the current sock project, and of course, Scheherazade and books.

I'm looking forward to wonderful summerdays and I will bring back many nice photos.

I wish you nice days!

Back at home

I have to make a subsequent entry. Normally I wanted to post it that Friday before our vacation. In the end I was too hyper for it.

After a short, but stressfull working day I went directly from Bremen to Osnabrück to the fair 'Nadel & Faden' (Needle & Thread). I wanted to go there so often, but allways we were on vacation. This time it went from Friday to Sunday, so I took the chance. As I live close to the railway line between both cities and a local train connects them is this the easiest and cheapest achievable event of this kind.

The fair is small and against my expectations I wasn't there as long as I thought. But of course I bought some things.

Sock yarn:

At the stand of the Cross Stitch Corner I bought this kit. I liked it so much in the new catalogue.

And there were another stand from 'Islandwolle'. I liked the pullover in grey, so I bought the kit. I also took a little brochure. So many wonderful colours!

After one hour in the train, I was back home. The bags were nearly packed so I could check the parcel from 'Butinette', which arrived that day. The red yarn is completly synthetic fibre, but very soft and cuddly. The size fits very well as I'm knitting a poncho for my mother for Christmas after an American pattern. She saw it in an Interweave Knits and was thrilled. But the original yarn is too expensive and not easy to by here in Germany. The yellow yarn ist a feathery fluffy yarn, which I will use for a shawl from the book 'Victorian Lace Today'.
I front wonderful little papers for card making.

After the vacation I received a parcel, I bought at a shop at Ebay.

Wonderful lightblue yarn, the other yarn is a give-away from the shop.

On vacation

I really knitted a lot. We had a calm and relaxing time. This went into the bag:

I started 'Aruba' in the train to Osnabrück.

On Lanzarote I loved it to sit on the wooden balustrade, which framed our patio:

And I often sat on the bench on that patio:

'Scheherazade' grows a lot:

On the beach I knitted socks. So I finished the first 'Aruba':

And started 'Bonaire':

Yesterday at home I suddenly didn't liked to continue with shawl or socks, so I started first the Christmas-Poncho for my mother and then a little remittance work for a friend. I infected Heike with scarf knitting and she asked me to knit some gaiters convenient to a scarf she knitted for her Mom. Of course I do this so I have now the second 'Fetching' next to me on the table.
