Sign of Life

I have to confess, that at the moment I'm to tired and often not motivated to blog.

But to show you something nice, here is another part of my doily-parade:

Classical appearance

Et tu, Brutus Bianca!

Yes, me too! This time it wasn't my dear Gesche, who infected me, Diana was swarming and reporting till I entered to the list and received my invitation this week. I'm now attending Ravelry as Sylfaen.

The wether is becoming colder and greyer, but I made many trips this months, for eyample to Hamburg. Special sale at the Hamburger Wollfabrik, Meeting my dear friends (Heavens, this was so great!) and once more together with Arne. at the day. when the first right autumn storm set some places under water. As Arne wanted to visit a surfshop close to the river (I stayed in the city to make a nice dry window shopping) he experienced thrilling things and so we went home this evening satisfied and both with nice boothies (no yarn, no photos ).

Last saturday in Osterholz-Scharmbeck a so-known 'Zugsocking' (Trainsocking) took place of a German Yahoo-Group. As the circumstances where perfect this time I attend. It was a lot of fun, lot's to see, a wonderful day.

Althought it is very cloudy today (because of this it seems, as if outside it is colder than it is in reality) I made some nice pictures in the last days from the balcony. As it is now ready for winter, so I had to make my other pictures in the following entries on the kitchen table.

Furthermore I'm reading at the moment- On Thursday I bought the first book of Philip Pullmans 'His Dark Materials' (The Golden Compass) for testing. I started in the train and yesterday I had to by the two other books. Perhaps I start today with book 3, that's where I'am now.

New yarn (and so on)

This week some very nice things came to me.

As I read about it in several Weblogs I tried the yarn from Isaar-Wolle. After two parcels needing a lot of time, the mail was this time very fast.

From the cone on the left side I will knit a Guernsey. From the higher cone next to it I think I will knit a nice jacket with cables (wasn't there something in the fall issue of the Interweave Knits...). The strand in the front is a new mixture and after a bit of thinking (in fact I planned a yarn from the next picture for it) I will use it to knit the Swan Lake shawl from 'Mystery-Stole 3' , althought it is a bit thicker than laceweight, for a dear friend, because it fits my imagination. I didn't attend the knitalong but in between it is possible to buy the pattern on Melanie Gibbons Homepage.

After a longer time I auctioned some yarn at Anett/Selavi. Anett has at the moment a very creative phase, she enters a lot of new yarn in new colours in her shop, and often it is now yarn for bigger projects than socks. One was the green yarn on the photo, where I had to think directly of a very dear friend. I plan to knit her one of the sweaters in the new Interweave Knits.

The white yarn on the photo is a sock yarn mixture with a glittering fiber. I planned it first for the Swan Lake, but I think to make another shawl from it, which will surely look very elegant, too.

As you may see, I should visit the next do-it-yourself-store to buy a cheap wall paper roll (this is in between a running gag in German knitter blogs to describe someones list with planned projects).

After trambling days of waiting (did the mail loose MY suprise package) it arrived: a little parcel from Diana. After I send her some surprises this year she wanted to pay back.

So many nice things...I loved it so much!

Christmas Factory 2007

At the moment I'm completly occupied with the Christmas production. I'm working on a range of cuddling socks and on a bigger piece for my mother. Furthermore I have to make a lot of cards.

Look and see:

These socks are 'at work'. On the left and right side a single from Regia Color 6fach Polar. In the middle the first sock from yarn from Kirsten 'Handgefärbt' 'Grashüpfer' (grasshopper).

The production of this parade stands not under a good star. I tried to use predominantly yarn from the stash which work not so well. For the orange socks I had to try a lot and change the pattern, as it swallows the cables.

Completly different is the yarn from Kirsten. Knitting is a lot of fun and so I finished easy the first pair of socks called 'Island'.

The project for my mother is a shawl from Kauni-yarn.

I adapted the pattern from the book 'Folk Shawls' from Cheryl Oberle. I have to say it this way, as I changed some things.

Farewell

We just received a call from Kim, the landlady of the domicile we love so much on Lanzarote. She thought it would be better to inform us now than to welcome us on the island with sad news in February.

Morena went over the Rainbowbridge at the beginning of November. I don't know, if there exists something similar in English but here in Germany there is a beautiful story to console those who lost a beloved animal. This animal has been gone over this bridge into a land of joy and happiness. And one day it turnes back to the bridge to welcome its human.

We are really sad and we will miss her very much!

Perhaps she can know play again with her sister. We never met her because she died before our first visit.
