Manual Labour
Weekend-Greetings
This week I'm a bit confused about the days. Since yesterday I got the impression, it's Saturday resp. Sunday. The reason may be, that I was certified unfit for work for three days. On Wednesday I got an implant and was told to give myself a break afterwards. My doctor told me, that everything looks fine at the moment, the only thing is, I don't want to think about the invoice, which I have to pay mostly by myself because of several circumstances.
But of course I have also to report some much more nicer things. On the one hand there was more time to knit (see entry above), on the other hand I received some nice little things and continued other activities.
From Bellas Woll-Shop a view balls sock-yarn arrived, which will be knitted to another colleagues series. I will have to see if before or after the Vermont-series.
Left: Werder Bremen (normally my and Birgits favourite German soccer team, but at the moment it's a bit hard to be a fan from them) Middle: Blue Sand Right: Autumn Storm 2007I also received a special credit note from Ebay (this was an Easter-event) and used it for a new Elsebeth Lavold book ( von Yarnbow). It was it worth it, the content is beautiful (look here). Unfortunatly I'm lured now to buy also 'The Take Five-Collection' and 'The Enchanted Garden-Collection'... Furthermore I was gluing a lot this week. Inspired by Tichiro I bought on Lanzarote several blotters to reduce my magazine- and several other paper-mountains. Here as an example the books Stories & Techniques" and the first knitting patterns book. Yes, it's the first, I had to start the second one.

Grey Sundays...
can be spend very well at the writing table. For example with writing blog-posts or... finish Easter cards.
The last two milstone-photos of the green Fabergé-egg:
And after the finish this afternoon: Fabergé in green Cross Stitch Gold 38 on Edinburgh 36ct I have to send a real big 'Thank you' to Monika from the Cross-Stitch-Corner. I choosed another fabric and left out the golden rack, but used the original yarns (but the Rayon only with one thread over two). When I started Thursday morning before going to work to add some beads I saw immediatly, that this won't work. The original Seed Beads from Mill Hill where absolutly too big. So I took a look at Monikas Shop to find matching beads from the Petite-Series, were succesfull and send her an eMail. Everything was in stock (I also added some Cross-Stitch-Magazines), she send it the same day and on Friday I found the envelope in my postbox. As the green egg will be send by mail, this was a real help. Furthermore I'm now happy about the new qualities from Kirsten 'Handgefärbt', too.

Weekend
As nearly allways very welcomed, one reason is that someone bothered me at the company.
For the next vacation pictures I need some peace, anyway there will be no time tomorrow, it's my Daddys birthday. Because of this I tinkered today a card for him:
Also on Wednesday I brought one on the way to my aunt, the motive was stitched long time before, but I think I start the series (from an older 'Cross Stitch Card Shop') new with evenweave in Bristol or Murano. This time I just had to finish the card. At the moment I stitch often my Eastern cards. Here are the two photos from Fabergé in green: If there is someone wondering about the a bit strange arrangement on the first piture: Shortly after the beginning I had to froggle (and the Rayon thread absolutly doesn't like this). So I stitched stitched first the lattice around the quarter square. To be completly without knitting was not possible of course. In one of the last articles I showed the 'Rowan Felted Tweed'-ballsin the colours 'Melody' (Pink) and 'Dragon' (Green). Why didn't I tell you that before? the enemy is reading, too and I was very sure, that my dear Gesche would have known what that meant. In between she received for her birthday (and was impressed, when I'm allowed to say that). The 'Melody' is for my/our friend Heike. At that Saturday in Hamburg (respectively on the train): And during the week in the train home or in the evening watching TV in the bedroom: Two days ago I started continuing 'Bebenhausen-Windows'. I want to finish it!

Projectplanning
My projectlist grew a bit today.
Because of the coming vacation I put project 6 on the list. From this yarn I would like to knit a shawl for a dear friend. I will put four balls of sock yarn into the suitcase (the three for the Chevron Stripes and Curaçao), but if I don't feel like to knit socks, I can continue with something bigger.
I named the project 'Westerland' and the pattern is from the book 'Lavish Lace', 'Rainstorm'. Very appropriate for a recipient living in Hamburg, don't you think so? Project 7 result from a special mood. It made my fingers itch to knit a shawl from cuddling yarn. However 'Bebenhausen Windows' has more priority and together with the neccessary projects for Eastern it might be too late to start with a warm yarn. We will see. The project is named 'Ashley' and I bought the yarn last spring in Funchal on Madeira. Today the next three projects came to the list, not knitting but cross stitching. My parents and my aunt are the only ones, who will get their occasion cards in cross stitch (in between the list is so long, every other solution would be too time consuming). Additionally my aunts birthday is at the end of February. As I don't have the heart to put my knitting into the plane, I allways keep a stitching project, this time the card for my aunt. The pattern is from Cross Stitch Gold 40, cards in Chines stile from Sue Page, I choose the flower. There are only for colours in blue, for the fabric I will choose Wedding40, because the motive is not so small and this card will be send by mail, so I can only use the maximum size of B6. For Eastern I chooses two Fabergé-Eggs from Anne McGregor from Cross Stitch Gold 38, but I will have to order some of the material, Rayon and yarn from DMC and perls from Mill Hill. The green card is for my aunt, the blue one for my parents. I have to think about the fabric, I will use, Edinburgh or Aida 18ct. Edinburgh matches better to the fine materials, on the other hand there will noch be much fabric visible. We will see... By the way, I thought about to put an addional page on the left side with my projectlist 2008. But before this, here is something more about current projects: I finished 'Bonaire' this week

Bonaire 'River Rapids' from Sockbug-Blog Caribbean-Set from Kirsten 'Handgefärbt' And I startet 'Chevron Stripes in red' Of course it would have been much logical to start the third ball from the Caribbean Set, but I considered, that three times Chevron-Pattern could be boring, so I would have a bit more variety. The yarn is very thin, so I knit with needles 2,25, the cuff with 64 stitches, the pattern even with 68. But it works and will not be too big. The sweater is now separated into forth and back. He will not travel to Lanzarote, the project is too big and complex and I think, the yarn will be too warm. The other projects are better, as well as I surely don't need much tools knitting them.

Very busy...
For example yarn buying...
At Kirsten 'Handgefärbt' one of her Winter-packages and a little present.
Or at the Schneeschaf, a special yarn for Christmas. And at the stand on the Bremen Christmas Market, which sells finespun yarn, knitted items an nice little boxes with soap. The yarn is really soft and ruby-coloured, not so red as it looks like here. Finishing presents...A shwal for my friend in Austria. Feather & Fan Lang Mille Colori The scarf for my mother. 'Lacy Prairie Shawl' (abgewandelt) Cheryl Oberle 'Folk Shawls' Kauni EJ A card for a dear friend. A card with a surprise for my precious. Receiving presents...For example from a dear colleague, an new ring with matching earrings. Did I mention, that I know exactly, what I will wear on Christmas Eve? This jewellery will be pat of it. In between every present is packed. The only thing to do is to finish and write the last Christmas card and to write a second one.

Doilie-Presentation Part 1
Once more as promised here follows the first part of my Doilie-Presentation.
I'm knitting and crocheting for a long time and round about 16 I started with the advanced part of these techniques. The missing skills I learnt with the help of 'Burda' and 'Neue Mode' (two German magazines). I produced alot of doilies. Normally I used cotton yarn in several sizes. First often cheap packs of for, later real fine yarn from Coats. Karstadt, a huge chain of stores in Germany, sold out a yarn called 'Opera' and I bought so many balls in different shades that I still have a cardboard in my cupboard.
Most of my doilies were gladly seen presents for my female kinship. My grandma was faszinated especially by the knitted ones. Even multigifted (for example she and her mother earnd money in the fifties by selling handknitted sweaters), she never started such fine work and I would be curious to know, what she would say to lace-knitting. I think I got ahead of her here and this maka me a bit proud.
Definitly one of her talents hasn't been bequeathed to me: I'm not good in sewing and I'm not very interested in it.
So here is my first picture book. The doilies in ecru a generally from very fine yarn. And I love crochet work from Bruges. Unfortunatly it is not easy to find really good motifs.

After a wonderful weekend...
finally I made it to write a new blog entry and show you some pictures. I was very busy
During the week some shoppings arrived:
Absolutly I wanted to test the Merino from Kirsten 'Handgefärbt'. Because of this I'm happy about 'Mein kleiner Garten' (My little garden).
Furthermore I received mail from America. I wanted to have some more Interweave Knits, I like them very much and the magazines 'Spring 2006', 'Fall 2006' and the current summer magazine were absolutly no disappointment. Unfortunatly in the near future I won't show so many new stuff here. I have to face an expensive dentist treatment, so I have to save a bit money and as I have a big stash of yarn and patterns, this is a logical choice. But I'm still waiting for two sendings and anyhow I'm thinking about buying a bit needlework tools but no more so much. Furthermore I finished a lot this weekend, thanks to television and a lot of time on the balcony. There are the socks: My Opal 'Rose of Jericho' knitted with the 'River Rapids pattern' from Sockbug. They will be a birthday present for a dear colleague. 'Nell'. The yarn ist the Silk-Ramie-Mixture from Sheepaints, knitted with the 'Broadripple-Pattern'. They will be a present for a dear friend. A new pair of socks has been startet: Opal 'Gämsenbinse' All but I finished another project, which is much more important: Before the weekend... After a long Saturday on the balcony... Cross-stitching finished... Tigerbaby finished Now it is ready for his travel and will start it's way back to Italy on Wednesday. I stitched it for this campaign
